Amelia Earhart landed an autogiro at Grand Central Air Terminal, Glendale on June 7, 1931 while on a transcontinental autogiro flight from Newark to LA. Grand Central was an important airport and due to its proximity to the studios was often used in the movies. #LosAngelesHistory

Friendship Friday-2 of our favorite famous ladies were great friends & adventurous too! On a cold night in 1933 - Eleanor Roosevelt and Amelia Earhart snuck out of a White House dinner still wearing their evening gowns and took an airplane joy ride from DC to Baltimore

“Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace
The soul that knows it not, knows no release
From little things;
Knows not the livid loneliness of fear
Nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear
The sound of wings.”
-- Amelia Earhart (1897 - 1937?), Wikipedia
Diane Dodds and UU have already a track record of shafting Derry to promote Team Belfast. Just three months ago, they set up an off-the-books £126m loan for UU's new N Belfast campus while ruling out Magee's promised expansion. Neither should be let near the new Medical School.

This would have been another fantastic event for our Organisation and for the community in Derry, but unfortunately we had to make this decision. This is also our 5th Year together as a voluntary group.

Due to Covid19 and the Government Guidelines and Social Distancing Restrictions, it is with deepest regret and heavy hearts that we have to Postpone the Annual Amelia Earhart Legacy Association (AELA) Anniversary Event that we had planned for May 21st 2020.
On this day 88 years ago, Amelia Earhart made history.
She travelled from Newfoundland in Canada to Derry in Northern Ireland and became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
How did she prove she flew out on the same day in case someone had said "fake news"?
