What a small world! Sitting in the Milwaukee Airport, I met a former teacher from a Capuchin run school in Guam. He was absolutely delighted to see a Capuchin again!
I once lived with a priest who, before driving anywhere, would invoke Our Lady of Loreto, the patronness of air travel, "just in case we catch some air." Happy feast! #friarlife
There's no higher "high" than being told by an 80 some year old Franciscan Sister that your homily on the Stigmata of St. Francis was the "best I've ever heard."
We do not know… how can we know the way?”
Courageous master of the awkward question,
You spoke the words the others dared not say
And cut through their evasion and abstraction.
Thank God for 'Doubting' Thomas! https://t.co/YmulnrqHao
"And when the grand twelve-million jury; Of our sins, with direful fury; 'Gainst our souls black verdicts give; Christ pleads his death, and then we live." - from The Passionate Man's Pilgrimage by Sir Walter Raleigh.
Had the pleasure ysd to meet Father Gary Wegner, who runs a Detroit soup kitchen
Wegner says demand is up ~80% over last yr w/ hunger rising nationally
“Jesus said blessed are the poor,” Wegner said. “Only in America do we put the modifier, ‘Blessed are the *deserving* poor’”
Friends, the Capuchin friars welcomed a broken man into their home, their routine, and their lives. In showing Christ’s tender love and mercy to Shia LaBeouf, they saw a man reinvigorated and ultimately welcomed into the fullness of the Church. It’s a beautiful story, modeled time and again throughout the ages by the brotherly example of Jesus, St. Francis of Assisi, Padre Pio, these brothers, and countless more.
The more you give of your life and your love, the more the divine grace increases in you. As with all conversions, there’s so much more than we might readily be able or invited to see. The genius and humor of God is that there is a ripple effect with each conversion.
