Are "ums" such a sin?
They're part of conversational language, sprinkled liberally, even strategically.
Only if you are using WAAAY too many will an audience notice.
It's a risk worth considering in your rehearsal times.

I've been moonlighting as a web developer for some delightful finance brokers who serve seniors - and, of course, sourcing relevant images. So many smiles! It really lifts my day!
Regaining #confidence can sometimes be as simple as checking in with a friend.
No one is better at giving a boost when you need it…
& calling you on your BS than a BFF.
Hope you are also getting supportive, constructive feedback for your speaking as well.
If not, join us.
Be kind to yourself and dare to be confident!
It can take courage to put your authentic self out there,
but it's so worth it in the end 💪❤️ #confidence#selflove"
“Go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that’s where you’ll find success. On the far side.”
Thomas John Watson, Sr.
Thanks for the reminder, Thomas J.
Besides, when you get to that far side, you have a story to tell.

This is the reason I so feel the power of #story
the -beautiful- power of story.
It is so good to be able to do #publicspeaking this way,
with the emphasis on connection.
It is, after all one of our most basic needs - to be connected and to belong, to feel understood.
“The nature of humanity, its essence, is to feel another’s pain as one’s own, and to act to take that pain away. There is nobility in compassion, a beauty in empathy, a grace in forgiveness.”
John Connolly

Alan Kay wrote "The best way to predict the future is to invent it."
Ah, so full of glorious, brutiful possibility.
Hold onto that sense of possibility.
It's yours no matter what happens.
Tell me, what's the next step in the future you are inventing?

When you bring #enthusiasm to your #storytelling, your #presentations, you do two things.
You feel more confident, energetic.
You look and sound that way too. You energise, engage and enthuse your audience.
Enthusiasm is contagious!!

[Pivotal Monday} A body in motion will remain in motion. A body at rest will remain at rest. What do we want to do? Get into motion. Once you're there it gets easier. We already know that. Now we gotta just do it.

When you say
"your story matters"
you build trust, connection, humanity
relationships
happiness.
Say it to yourself,
that same build for your inner self and
strength, creativity, fulfilment
that you and we all need

When you are confident, you are assured of what you know.
You don’t have to waste time questioning yourself.
You don't make decisions until you’re sure you understand the situation,

Do you end a story/speech/presentation with "Thank You"?
Sometimes?
All the time?
And if so, do you find value in doing that?
Or perhaps you would NEVER end a presentation with "Thank you"...?
Please let me know YOUR answer - in the comments -> ->
It's tempting sometimes, isn't it, to want to strut, to pretend to be something we're not?
But so freeing to be able to be yourself,
knowing that you've got this, even if it fails,
having #faith in yourself and in the formula for telling your #story to connect and convince.
We create problems when we start thinking that the things we’ve done are too small.
There’s nothing wrong with starting small and building toward bigger and bigger success.
