@RobSomerville1 We did some research on this, basically works to distract them. Lots of evidence in human medicine where distraction works to minimize pain perception.
@jhozack One of our bulls decided to go find some cows the other night, unfortunately the first ones he found were the neighbours. Was able to walk him out the gate and onto our trailer without too much of a fight, even though there was a heifer in heat. Gotta love well trained bulls.

@RobSomerville1 Any functional issues first (old, thin, poor udder, poor feet), any temperament issues, then weaning wt of calf: weaning wt of cow is a good piece of data to look at IMO.
@RobSomerville1 We have a spypoint. Works great. The free plan is 100 pictures/month. If you want more than that it costs. Cell coverage is poor in our pastures too but it hasn't been an issue with the camera.
