I wasn’t going to add my thoughts, but to hell with it. I agree with this. I’d also like to add that immediately after Trump’s comment about inviting the women too, you can clearly hear the following from the hockey team: “absolutely” and “two for two”. More than that, several of the men were at the women’s hockey games, posting and boasting about the women’s team, and people like Jack Hughes openly said he thought of Megan Keller immediately after his OT winner. This was a short clip. We weren’t there, we don’t know everything that happened, we don’t know what all was said/done etc. We also DON’T know these people in real life. I personally think the joke was said in extremely poor taste, there’s no denying that. I’m also not surprised he joked that way when he’s undeniably a piece of shit for endless reasons. But I’m also not going to immediately villainize a group of people who were drunk (literally double fisting drinks in the video), celebrating an insane win, and were likely only half listening to the conversation in the first place and laughing along mindlessly when the President (like him or not) was on the phone. Now, I’m sure some of them ARE sexist and or think they’re superior. Fuck those guys. But I’m also certain some of them are not and just laughed without thinking. I’m a woman hockey fan and will go batting for women every damn day. Especially women sports fans and women athletes. All I’m saying is several of the men’s players were openly supportive of the women and I can’t ignore that.
