#AutisticPeopleCan stop being #ageist to elder #ActuallyAutistic community members.
You can stop with the, "they're old, eww" comments.
You can stop with the ok boomer comments.
It's #ageism.
Autistic people have lower life expectancies. Stop the cruelty to #AutisticElders
1 in 66 kids are diagnosed w/ Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our precious Sullivan is one of those kiddos. I’m thankful for @AutismEdmonton & thrilled to support their #openingdoorsforautism fundraiser last nite. I’m a new board member & looking forward to continuing the good work.
Congratulations to our very own Tina Naqvi-Rota for winning the Gino Ferri Community Builder Award for her tireless contributions to Autism awareness. Let's keep opening doors! @AutismEdmonton#openingdoorsforautism
Congratulations to @AutismEdmonton on a very successful #OpeningDoorsGala and to Brune Sinneave for giving a heartwarming speech as tonight’s guest speaker.
This look at seclusion room use in Edmonton Public schools is the first regular reporting we've seen in Alberta. The numbers are shocking. https://t.co/50AbL1rDnE #abed#Disability
Systemic excuse for abuse, plain and simple. But because they are used primarily for children with disabilities it’s declared appropriate. Find a better way to support students and educators that doesn’t result in trauma. https://t.co/oCPU0yyfzC
The use of seclusion rooms over 700 times in 1 month clearly indicate supports needed are not there. This is alarming! This is primarily in special ed where parents are told the specialized services exist. Another reason for inclusion #inclusion
