Man preaching from the Bible is accused of "homophobic and racist" remarks by two officers. They admit they don't know what he said. A third appears and says they are gathering evidence to determine if a hate crime or public order crime has been committed and that it doesn't matter if the words are from the bible.

She says intentions mean nothing and it's how the person listening feels.

The BBC has had thirty eight years and £3.8 billion a year to explain British farming to the British public. The job was eventually done by an American shopping website, in eight episodes, fronted by the man the BBC itself dropped over a row about a steak.

Countryfile first went out on 24 July 1988, and its origin is the part nobody brings up. It replaced Farming, a programme that had spent thirty years making news for the people who actually did the work. The new show was deliberately widened to take in everybody who merely liked the countryside as well as those who lived off it. Widened meant softened. In 2009 it moved to Sunday evenings, where five to six million people still watch, and it has been settled ever since into an hour of scenery, a ramble, a calendar competition and the weather.

Then in June 2021 a company best known for selling doorbells put out a series about a man failing to farm a thousand acres, and within a week the British public understood the subsidy system.

Look at what an American retailer put on screen that thirty eight years of Sunday nights had not. A thousand acres, a full year of work, £144 profit. A crop drowning in the field with nobody coming to help. A farmer selling at a price he is not allowed to set. A council able to shut a restaurant standing on a man's own land. The accounts, open, with jokes over the top.

James Rebanks, who keeps sheep for a living rather than for a segment, reckoned Clarkson did more for farmers in one series than Countryfile had managed in thirty years. The NFU said the same thing in nicer words.

Now the funding, which is where it gets genuinely funny.

Countryfile is paid for by £180 a year, rising on 1 April, taken from every household in Britain that watches live television, on pain of prosecution. Twenty three million licences. Three point eight billion pounds. Guaranteed money, a captive audience, a national mandate and a prime Sunday slot.

Clarkson's Farm is paid for by people voluntarily pressing play, and it goes out in more than 240 countries.

The nation's farmers had one broadcaster legally funded by them, obliged to serve them, sitting on the biggest slot in British television. It gave them a weather forecast and a photography competition, and when a bloke with a Lamborghini tractor did the actual job for free, the same building's stars went on a sofa to complain about his opening credits.

The BBC had the money, the mandate, the Sunday night and thirty eight years.

It used them to film the view.

Brutally honest. No oil painting. A pot belly, a lifelong smoker, a drinker. Not exactly the modern alpha male or is he?

And somehow that is the whole point

I have watched him for most of my life
First as a motoring journalist who could make you want a car you would never own and never need
Then as something bigger
The loudest, funniest, most unfiltered mouthpiece the ordinary person ever had
A man who said the thing everyone was thinking while the rest of television tiptoed around it

From Top Gear he built something that should not have worked
Three middle aged men, The Stig, a track and a chemistry you cannot manufacture
James May the patient one
Richard Hammond the brave one
And Clarkson the force of nature dragging both of them into chaos and somehow back out again

When it all fell apart at the BBC he could have disappeared
The fracas was not his finest hour and he never pretended it was
He owned it, apologized and carried on
No reinvention, no groveling tour, no carefully managed comeback
He just kept being himself and let the work speak

The move to Amazon and The Grand Tour proved something I think a lot of people missed
The format was never the magic
The men were
You can take three friends out of a studio and drop them anywhere on earth and the loyalty between them travels with them

But it is Clarkson's Farm where the whole picture finally comes into focus

Here is a man with nothing left to prove walking into a field he barely understands and refusing to fake competence he does not have
He has run that farm at break even and then at an outright loss in full public view
No editing it into a success story
No pretending the numbers work when they do not
His farm manager hands him one brutal truth after another and he sits there and takes it

A whole season swallowed by drought even after he leaned into robotics and the most advanced farming money could buy
Technology was supposed to be the answer and the weather did not care
He showed that too
Most people would have cut it

And through all of it he has done something quietly remarkable
He has dragged the plight of the British farmer into the light
The paperwork, the council, the margins that vanish, the weather that ruins a year of work in a week
People who had never thought about where their food comes from suddenly cared because he made them care

And then there is the part nobody warned me about
Men who raise animals for meat and still love them
Who name them, worry about them, sit with them
Who treat them with respect and dignity right up to the moment they cannot keep them
And feel the full weight of sending them off

He does not hide that
He lets the camera sit in the discomfort of it
The grief of a man who knows the deal he made and still finds it hard

That is not weakness
That is honesty most people are far too afraid to show

We live in an age that rewards the polished, the curated, the carefully built personal brand
And here is a scruffy, swearing, chain smoking farmer who has done the opposite of all of it and won
He stayed exactly who he was while the world begged him to become a product

That is the whole secret
There is no act
There never was

And that is exactly why we keep watching

This will ruin your Sunday afternoon. I'm going through some of this asylum documentation and the Home Office has sent me evidence proving that illegal migrants are given 'appropriate support' to help register for dental services.

A 'Travel Assistance Service' is also provided - meaning that illegals are taken to and from their dentist appointments.

Let's be clear about what's happening here - illegal men from the third world are being provided with dental services, whilst taxpaying British men and women are forced to pull their own teeth out because of a lack of service.

Brits can't even GET an appointment, never mind transport to and from the surgery. It is sickening.

I am entirely uninterested in the dental hygiene of these criminals.

Their teeth can rot for all I care.

They should be deported, and they can get whatever dental work they like.

The most striking thing reading through all of these migrant hotel contracts?

It's the care, the dedication, the level of service provided to these men.

These men from Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Albania, Eritrea, Sudan - who have broken into our country.

The Home Office goes to painstaking lengths to ensure their comfort. Every angle you could possibly imagine is covered - hundreds and hundreds of pages dedicated to providing for them.

I just cannot get my head around it.

Billions and billions of OUR tax spent on accommodating these men.

Not our own people, but these third world criminals.

Everything is focused on caring for them. Meticulously so.

It is remarkable, and I absolutely detest it.

This is all to line them up to claim refugee status, through which they can rinse the taxpayer for even more.

It is one giant scam, and we're all paying for it.

I absolutely HATE it.

We must abolish the entire asylum system, and deliver mass deportations on a scale that would make Trump blush.

Yesterday, I visited one of the main entry points for the invasion of our country in Dover, a place that tells you everything about where Britain’s government priorities now lie. Last night, I was contacted by someone who worked at this very location. His NDA has ended, and what he confirmed should make every decent person feel sick to their stomach.

When British people, especially British men, fall on hard times and turn to their local council in desperation, they are handed leaflets for food banks, told there is no accommodation, no clothing support, and no real help. They are sent away to sleep in tents, doorways, and under lit shop fronts just to try and stay safe through the night.

At the same time, look at what is being provided to fighting-age men who have no right to be in this country, men who have never paid tax and have never contributed on any level.

Brand-new clothing.
New shoes.
Hot food.
Warm accommodation.
A fully managed, fully funded system, rolled out with care, organisation and urgency, for Third World migrant men who have contributed nothing to this country.

This is not compassion.
This is not fairness.
This is a betrayal.

How can anyone justify a Britain where those who were born here, worked here, paid in, served their communities and raised families are abandoned, while others are prioritised the moment they arrive?

This is a scandal of historic proportions.
It is cruel.
It is deliberate.
And it is being hidden in plain sight.
