Congratulations to Dr. Broom (@broom1sj) for successfully defending her dissertation titled,
“Damned if Ya Do, Damned if Ya Don’t”: A critical narrative inquiry exploring the gendered racism experienced by Black women housing professionals in higher education. #DUHigherEd
Nothing like having flight attendant Murray yell at you about a service dog when you have major anxiety as you take off flight 1793. Do better @SouthwestAir
@SouthwestAir Anyone invested I provided narrative of the traumatizing event for “leadership” and was offered nothing but a “hope the next flight is better” for my negative experience that caused me to have an anxiety attack mid air Cool cool.
His commentary was not the problem as he was correcting me for something I did not know (but needed to be alerted to) but yelling and belittling me is not the move. I’ve been loyal to southwest for years and this is the final straw.
It’s already emotionally taxing being a Black woman who gets treated like crap and doubted as to the validity of having a service dog; this did not help.
Im so close to the finish line of this dissertation. But the hurdle of @googledocs not actually doing an even slightly thorough spell check on my 160 page document is truly causing me pain, frustration and mental anguish. *sigh*
“Professionalism was based on the notion that one withstood microaggressions and bias with grace and lightheartedness ... This was particularly the case for women, people of color, LGBTQIA people, and people with disabilities.”
