The Kenya Environmental Health and Public Health Practitioners Union (KEHPHPU) has called for immediate nationwide inspections and the deployment of qualified Public Health Officers (PHOs) to all schools across Kenya. The union issued the demand following the tragic fire at Utumishi Girls Academy. The union has also objected to the longstanding practice of assigning non-public health personnel to oversee critical school health and disease surveillance programmes.
