Nobody ever talks about the huge plot hole in this story.
The Roman soldier would of been a pagan.
Why would a pagan Roman think someone is the "son of god" after dying? What god? Jupiter? Not a typical thing for a pagan Roman to say.
Even if there really was an earthquake at the time of Jesus' crucifixion, he would of just thought Poseidon -- the Earth Shaker -- was really pissed at Jesus, because Jesus dies after, therefore Jesus wasn't divine.
If he wanted this pagan to think Jesus was the son of a god, he would of saved him.. There is no messianic prophecy of a suffering savior in Roman Imperial religion at this time. He would be more interested in a conquering winner who can get himself off the cross and replace himself with the Sanhedrin & Pilate who colluded against him.
That's what Caesar would of done. HAIL CAESAR!
@Palestinian88 Copy-pasting 19th century translations of Clement of Alexandria wonβt save you. You made up a fake Proclus quote about exterminating Celts. The "barbarian philosophers" line you stole from Clement actually proves my point-he explicitly lists Druids as original sages. Cry harder.
@Palestinian88@se13kie@AttikaBeniko Imagine writing an essay to look cultured, only to mistake Celts for Dacians, conflate mainland Gauls with Insular Brythonics, mock agrarian sanitation, and miss that Aristotle praised Druids. Read up on Brehon Law before playing professor. Holy projection.
