This time last year, I was sceptical that email marketing could work for Nigerian brands (as opposed to channels like Instagram & WhatsApp), but helping a client bring in over 5m Naira in 7 months with emails has changed my mind.
The secret? email strategy & conversion copy.
Somebody somewhere took my name because I just got two back-to-back podcast invitations on LinkedIn.
Whoever it was - thank you!
Also, I'm always up for a podcast, webinar, or workshop.
If you're looking for someone to talk about:
✅ User onboarding and retention emails in SaaS
✅ Lifecycle emails in ecommerce
✅Creating an incredible email experience for customers and subscribers (in both SaaS and ecommerce)
... and anything related to:
✅ freelancing
✅ running an online biz
✅ making $200k+ from a list of < 2000 subscribers
... I'm your girl.
Ok, kind of an odd question here, but American travel journos do you write a pitch in British English when reaching out to a pub in the UK? I'm never sure if it matters or not...
Brands...Send your agency free product to the team members supporting you.
SO much easier to strategize/write/design for a product you've experienced yourself!
@Amani_Art@AceProgress_App I just downloaded it because of this tweet. It looks like something I would love - different projects with their list of tasks. Thank you!
That tweet about 4k delivery just reminded me of Uber asking me to pay 6500 for a 15-minute ride. If I walked angrily from my house, I might be in ikota in the time it would take Uber to find me a ride.
I reloaded the app and got a ride for 1400
I miss when N2500 was the standard price for everything in Nigeria.
Even the name was sweet - Two Five.
Wanted to book an Uber? Lere to Lekki: Two - Five
What about this nice pair of palms? Two - Five.
How much for this nice belt?
I kid you not bro, still Two Five.
If you work with clients doing email marketing, I made a quick Google Doc email template you can send to them explaining the new Gmail/Yahoo sending guidelines and what they need to do.

@BigDuns__ Mailerlite. They can still get to use automations on the free plan. And if it’s a Nigerian brand who plans to sell products, their revenue will be reported in Naira. I like that feature.
This! Can look like it isn’t a big deal, but it is (to me).
Yesterday, I changed one of the featured products in a skincare brand’s email because I couldn’t link to the actual product and didn’t want to send customers to a general product category page.
One of the most upsetting things is getting an ad or email with a product, clicking on it and then the item is no where to be found
Don’t take me to a collections page with the piece buried on page 4
I want that specific item goddamnit
Apparel brands are the worst offenders
I understand you’re getting me to click with a hero product you might not even have anymore
And it works, I get sucked into the brand
But if you do have the product just show it to me when I click please
Otherwise I’m less likely to buy it and usually frustrated
Those words are usually my cue to reject a project. I can tell from a mile that there’ll be scope creep, feedback delays and a lot of “uhm, so we were thinking…
@samarowais I get a monthly email from the University of Birmingham, sharing bits about campus activities, science breakthroughs and alumni activities. I could send you a few if you still need more examples.
If you have an ecommerce business and you want to start or deepen your email marketing efforts this year, send me a DM and let’s talk about your emails.
(I’m partial to food, drink, lifestyle, clothing, baby care and skincare businesses)

Can I also mention that this revenue is from weekly email newsletters only (no automated flows). This year, we’re putting a focus on setting up core flows.
Double the value to customers, double the revenue for the brand.
