Why KRC20 Failed: Understanding the Issues
Thread🧵(1/8)
Seems like a lot of communities are still confused about what happened with the KRC20 failed launch. I’m here to clear the air.
Let's break down what's happening with KRC20 tokens to understand whether the issue lies with Kaspa or other third-party developers.
I live in Hong Kong and am paid in USDT from my job.
I've noticed some very strange trends that cost me thousands of dollars in just 2 years.
Asian people who get paychecks from work in USDT usually cash out most of it every 2-4 weeks for daily expenses and rent. Throughout the year, I've lost so much money in gas fees because the only common way for us to cash out USDT is through local OTCs. And the only option they have is Tron (TRC20).
There’s a huge demand for Cash-USDT transaction in Asia, particularly China (I think you all know why). There are billions of of Cash-USDT transaction every year in Asia and Trc20 being the main chain is an huge issue.
I dove deeper and asked multiple notable OTCs in Hong Kong.
Why Tron I asked? The answer I got was that Solana isn't the safest bet because it has experienced network issues before, which is understandable. Ethereum is the second-best option, but it takes very long if you want to cash out with the lower gas fee option (I know it only takes 30 minutes, but it’s weird for people to cash out and hang out around the OTC shop for 30 straight minutes).
The only reasonable solution I see is Kaspa. And Kaspa is not even an option in none, I mean NOT EVEN ONE of the OTC shops(I’ve been to at least 30+ OTC shops).
Many 'crypto lovers' don’t realise that the majority of regular people who happen to have to deal with cryptocurrencies aren’t educated in crypto at all. All they know is that it is a form of money transfer which requires them to pay additional money (gas fee) when trying to spend the money(paychecks).
Kaspa is the only reasonable solution because it’s a proof of work which is borderline impossible for network attacks. Fast and Cheap. And that’s all it takes. That is the real reason for ‘cryptocurrency’ to exist.
I’m begging Kaspa to success. This time not because of my Investment in Kas, but also not wanting to keep on losing thousands of dollars in Gas fees with outdated chains like Tron and Eth.

@binance,
Thanks for including me in the top 100 blockchain people list, appreciate the signal!
I must decline the Dubai invite though. I do not wish to disrespect, but many of the award voters are avid kaspians who rooted for my kaspa status at least as much as for my research. Let them win or count me out.
Crypto has turned from a euphoric cypherpunk project to a house-friendly casino. You may not be the culprit, but as a top player you hold the lion’s share of the responsibility to correct this, and the October crash your USDe oracle glitch helped trigger adds to what needs to be addressed.
There are three classes of crypto, as @mert put it recently: commercial crypto, casino crypto, cypherpunk crypto. <<Binance should hold a privilege policy for the latter.>> A TBTF CEX should know better and play a different game with hardcore crypto projects.
When binance lists a green frog three weeks post its “launch” but skips a fair-launched-Nakamoto-Consensus-100ms-upgrade-ATH-top-20-the-only-nonbitcoin-marathon-mined project, this is not merely binance rationally calculating; it is also binance molding the market in a way that is alas misaligned with the roots of the movement.
You may feel that kaspa’s sovereign money thesis is boring – that bitcoin is already money and that implementing an internet-speed bitcoin is useless - fine. Wrong but fine. But what’s the thesis for the green frog?
Money is a classic chicken-and-egg product. It is a scam up until one moment before tipping point, “most of the value comes from the value that others place in it.” Considering your resources and influence, I think it's safe to say you can serve as both the egg and the chicken and make it worth your while to push sound attempts towards tipping point.
@cz_binance tweeted recently that “strong projects will be listed.” But binance is part of what defines "strong", it bears responsibility for the market’s compass and impulse and definition of strong. It is not a read-only entity.
Binance listing fees are legit, they are just unfit for category cypherpunk. Kaspa devs and early supporters fairly mined less than half what satoshi and hals mined. We don’t have a 20% ZEC-style founders’ reward or protocol-enforced dev fund; this is not a jab at ZEC and the wonderful @Zooko, who was crashing in my car on a late Thursday back in the low ZEC MC days – if somebody deserves to win it is zooko – but assuming binance is not taking a maxi bet, it should revisit its relationship with hardcore crypto.
We are here through bull and bear, ICOs NFTs XYZs; and we are the source of confidence that restores faith and capital inflow post meme-induced or CEX-induced crashes.
Please fix this.
Thanks again,
hashdag

Some Late Night thoughts about KRC20💡🌉
But before we start talking about KRC20, I want to first get into #Base. I know that this is not a post about Base, but please bear with me.
The Reason of the ‘Base Hype’
#Base has gained so much hype this year because it solves some key issues that the crypto space has had for years.
$Eth's slow transaction speed and expensive ass gas fees, even after the recent dencun upgrade, and $Sol's constant congestion, without being at the peak of the bull run, are two of the main concerns for many investors. Therefore, Base has come into play.
For newcomers, Base is a layer-2 solution built on Ethereum, aimed to enhance transaction speeds and reduce costs while maintaining the security benefits of the Ethereum mainnet. Base Chain is developed directly by Coinbase, a platform trusted by millions of users.
Main Issue with Base 🚫
However, there’s a main problem with #Base. Using a layer 2 solution developed directly by @coinbase goes against the core principles of cryptocurrency, which is having control of our own assets and transferring assets without a so-called 'middleman'. What if one day Coinbase lost a lawsuit or went bankrupt like FTX? We never know.
Using Base Chain directly developed by Coinbase is equivalent to using USD directly issued by the US government. Getting rid of centralized financial systems is exactly the purpose of the creation of cryptocurrency.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not fudding #Base Chain at all because I believe it is one of the two or three chains that can make people the most money this bull runs. For full transparency, I hold a very nice bag on Brett and Mfer, one of them is already up multiple Xs. However, it still doesn’t change the fact that it goes against the “Be your own bank” part of #Bitcoin .
The Potential of KRC20 - You Are Very Early
#KRC20 has all the qualities that led to the success of Base Chain, but with an added layer. $Kas is one of the most decentralized layer 1s in the world, making KRC20 unique.
It has the potential to complete the unfinished missions of Bitcoin and Ethereum: 'A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System' and 'A platform for all decentralized applications (dapps).'
The problem with Bitcoin is that it is too slow and expensive. Ethereum, on the other hand, is not fully decentralized and also too expensive.
However, Kaspa has the ability to solve both of these problems. As @DesheShai described, 'The Endgame' of crypto.
Community and Influencers 🤝
#KRC20 is backed by many influential people in the space even prior to its launch. @cryptomanran has expressed interest in the KRC20 space, and some rumors even suggest he’s behind a KRC20 project. On the other hand, @AltcoinDailyio has tweeted, 'Something tells me the Kaspa story isn't over.' @CryptoArchieYT has also stated, 'Some of the biggest meme coins will be on Kaspa.'
All of this evidence points to Kaspa having one of the strongest communities in the space despite being so early.
Network Effects 🛜
The scalability and cost-effectiveness of #KRC20 make it an attractive ecosystem for developers and traders.
Its interoperability (cross-chain feature) expands the utility of Kaspa KRC20 Smart Contracts and fosters collaboration and innovation within the entire crypto space. KRC20 will become significantly more valuable as more people use it.
Increased involvement from both developers and traders will provide great liquidity to KRC20 and likely affect the price action of $KAS, creating a win-win situation for all Kaspa and KRC20 project token holders.
Why Invest in Early KRC20 Projects?
It's simple: as #KRC20 gains popularity, their memes gain traction too. These projects are typically created by Kaspa lovers who uphold Kaspa's ideology of being ‘fair and community-driven.’
Projects like @KasperCoin and @NachoWyborski are the perfect examples of that. fair launches, no pre allocations, no vc banking, reducing the risk of rug pulls.
Which KRC20 Projects Will Be The Top Memes on KRC20?
The short answer is, 'nobody knows.' It could be $Kasper, it could be $Nacho, or it could even be something else that hasn't even launched yet.
However, one thing is certain: If you were early in an ECOSYSTEM, you will be a very successful investors regardless of whether you invested in Brett or Toshi.
