Thierry and Zlatan saying they wouldn't have become soccer players because of the costs of the American youth system, then seeing Lalas say it's a great system because it makes a lot of money for some people really sums it all up nicely
This is probably the seminal fight that MLS has to contend with in the overwhelming success of this World Cup.
If you want complete access to a league, good production values, good behind the scenes and spotlights on every team w/fun and very competitive matches, MLS is the answer.
Support your local club can and should work on a lot of fans experiencing soccer for the 1st time in the World Cup (it’s beyond a tremendous experience) but for many, it boils down to the quality of who they’re following on the heels of the World Cup
So if you want “the best league” then you’re going EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, or Serie A in the States. All have accessible and the highest level matches to watch. You can’t go, but you can follow easily.
It’s this reason why MLS needed to and needs to make more of a splash to show they have a desire to take a massive step to be one of the best leagues in terms of talent. They needed to take the reins off more when Messi came (they didn’t) and they need to take them off now to capture that “best league” fandom (they aren’t).
It’s supremely frustrating having followed the growth of the league, knowing the intentionality towards stability, but seeing that there isn’t recognition or desire to take a proper leap to truly capitalize on this World Cup upon its’ conclusion.
I worry that the true World Cup bump for soccer in the US will grow the top 5 Euro leagues’ support more than what’s in the US itself.
To all the Blues fans who relentlessly hated on Kyrou (often blindly) for countless years...
Mason McTavish is actually going to be who you thought Kyrou was

@bschaeffer12 Track record says more are coming. Pallante's been great but struggles as the season goes on and Leahy is in his first year as a starter and that will take it's toll.
@STLBluesMuse They need to add 2 new top six players and a top 4 d man to have a chance in the second round of the playoffs. Otherwise they'll compete to make the playoffs.
@johnrabe I really don't get the people saying to buy or not trade assets for this team when they're basically the same as what Mo had for the last 5 years. 1 or 2 players that can slug and a rotation that's built for contact not championships. They still need championship level pieces
@BKSportsTalk The bigger issue is lack of slugging. Other than Walker nobody is consistently getting an extra base. Plus the pitching's lack of strikeouts, this team is basically the same as last year's just cheaper.
In Germany, they have a 50,000 seat stadium in the 3rd division and a 15,000 seat stadium in 1st division. Why? Bc that's where those teams belong next season based on merit. This isn't MLS where you buy your way in and then never have to compete again #ProRelForUSA
@AppleTV can you please get with whoever is giving you data and review to ensure it is accurate before giving to your @MLS broadcasters.
Edu Löwen is NOT a DP
Fallou Fall and Mamadou Mbacke are NOT brothers
Hearing inaccurate information weekly is infuriating and reduces the quality of your product.
@ChatCityTactics If only there was an MLS team that is struggling on offense especially with wingback play... But where could you find a team like that
