Kudos to teacher Lynn Bjorkquist and her team of 11 students from Nesbit and Sandpiper who competed at the California State National History Day competition this past weekend near Sacramento. All 11 students advanced previously from the county competition. Impressive!
Congratulations to Fox teacher Marey Richins earning a county Kent award for her program connecting students with children who are home- or hospital-bound due to disability or serious illness. Ms. Richins is retiring in June after 35 years of effective teaching! Thank you Ms. R!

Congrats to Suvarna Bhopale, Rahila Passi, and Amy Koo for their re-election to the BRSSD board. Also, thanks to Huan Phan for serving as president this past year, to incoming president Passi, and to Rob Tashjian for serving 9 years now. We’re fortunate to have a strong board!
BRSSD schools are open tomorrow and Tuesday. No penalty for students staying home (please call in absence). Heating systems will be off, so students attending school should wear jackets.
All Belmont-Redwood Shores schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Nov 16. This is due to the air quality index going above 200 and the high school district canceling school as well. A notice will go out by 5pm Sunday to confirm our plans for Monday.
