Don't live by comparison. I think people who do end up needing this world to be a toilet and everyone in it to be scum because that normalizes whatever horrible things they have done or will do... normalizes, by comparison.
If I stare into the abyss, I observe the abyss. If the abyss stares back into me, the abyss observes me. Does that mean if I stare into the abyss it creates some kind of quantum observer effect cubed or something?
I am destructible and finite. I am fragile and easily hurt. These are some of the reasons it is important when I am purposely kind and caring towards other beings.
So I have to check with my husband to make sure that, when I'm interacting with someone and I'm stressed, I'm still being kind, which can be tricky for someone with paranoia.
On Halloween, the frights (in general) aren't real, but gravity is real. The sun and moon are real. Other people are real. Their feelings are real. It's good to keep all this in mind when normal people seem frightening. Their feelings are real. I should try to be kind, if I can.
Which leads to a more settled and contented mind - people are generally awful, even the ones who seem nice, or - people are generally nice, even the ones who seem awful?
When something one imagines might be true transitions to something one is certain must be true, with insufficient evidence to support either, that may well be what we call a delusion. Take it from one who's been there.
