A man and a woman who washed into the sea near a rocky sea cave have been saved in a four-hour operation.
The conditions were so fierce that the first helicopter winchman hoisted down had their boots torn off and had to be checked over in hospital.
The final briefing took place this week to conclude Exercise Kernow 23, a multi-agency live exercise organised by RNAS Culdrose to simulate an aircraft collision. It was held last month at Penhale #Cornwall for training & identify lessons - thanks to all who took part
A great example of the teamwork between our HM Coastguard Coastguard Rescue Teams @hmcgport, Penzance, Coastguard helicopter, @penleelifeboat and @swasFT

Happy memories as a kid in the 80's, sitting in the passenger seat of one of these, at Falmouth. Bell ringing. Father driving round the drill yard. Seem to remember it had a Rolls Royce petrol engine?
#ThrowbackThursday Here we have a 1972 Dennis D that served out of @PenzanceCFRS until it was replaced by a newer Mercedes pump and was disposed of in the mid 1990s. Picture credits to @gc74ff
@LondonFire@LFBMuseum That one (Fire Hawk) now lives in Falmouth, Cornwall. (And has done for some while now) I think it’s recently changed hands again.
