This unfortunately does hurt the un/underemployed more when scraping by.

Though it should be acknowledged that some states are as cheap as $10/renewal (Missouri). Though a 3yr expiry is frustratingly obnoxious, I'm sure.

The last time the Dems had control of everything was COVID-era scrambling to prevent a recession (and it wasn't even a supermajority, the Dems had spoilers). The time before that we got healthcare. Trump had unified 2017-19. Why no ID laws?

B. A secure system can still be manipulated outside the voting booth (eg alleged bomb threats or whatever).

You don't need to manipulate votes if you can manipulate the voters instead.
