@nise_yoshimi@JonkJahnson Maybe a material abundance path dependency. I wonder if it’s just the most profitable model or simply that the aerospace industry exploded during the war and then used that influence to lock in its preferred style of war fighting.
@akshayanands@nise_yoshimi IIRC Tooze pushes back on this a little and argues the air war was an effective attritional strategy at soaking up Nazi war material. Of course not close to Soviet effort or effectiveness.
