We're the Clinical Genetics Research Team in the West Midlands Regional Clinical Genetics Unit at Birmingham Women's Hospital - supporting genetics research
It was a valuable opportunity to learn, share practice, and connect with wider Clinical Research Practitioner colleagues and the academic study teams we work closely with but rarely meet in person.
Great to see Hannah Titheradge presenting her amazing @lifearc1 funded Trio WGS using @nanopore long read sequencing - she has identified several patients using LR who have had no findings in SR standard of care.
This will be transformative for those who have struggled for dx
Thrilled to have been at the CRP Leaders Strategic Summit to hear the exciting plans for the professions next steps, and to receive my registered CRP pin badge from Rachel Evans LCRN West Midlands CRP Engagement Lead #CRPractitioner#CRPs#CRPleaders#AHCS#NIHR
As Clinical Trials Day fell on a Saturday we’ve decided to celebrate & spread the research message all week @BWC_NHS! Here are some of our fabulous research teams @BWH_NHS starting us off! Look out for them in reception, grab a treat & learn about the awesomeness of research! 😊
We’re marking #internationalclinicaltrialsday and we want to say a big ‘thank you’ to all of our patients and families, along with our research teams, for their support and hard work at enhancing the care we provide.

Celebrating International Clinical Trials Day
This year of celebrating #ClinicalTrialsDay Clinical Genetics are pleased to be locally delivering the EPIK-P2 Clinical Trial in PROS (PIK3CA-related overgrowth spectrum) trial along with NIHR Clinical Research Facility nursing team.
We are hoping to improve patients’ lives with this trial. We enjoy seeing those taking part at each visit and are thankful to all the staff involved in the running of this trial.
🥁 And our first #BWCSpiritAwards22 winner is (drum roll please). The fantastic Jonathan Hoffman, Lead Clinical Research Co-ordinator, who is this year’s ‘Best Boss’. He received multiple nominations for his dedication to his team; offering support, guidance and compassion. 🧵
Today we all got together to do the @ProstateUK March for Men! Inspired by the volunteers we recruit into studies, together our team raised (so far) £625 to help fund prostate cancer research! #MarchForMen
As #CTD2022 draws to an end we've left our most important tweet until last. We wanted to say a massive 'thank you' to each and every single person and family who has participated in research @BWC_NHS. During 2021/22 that was an amazing 6,645 people.
