Debt collectors and attorneys collect on behalf of the creditor - "on behalf of".
You'll know when your debt is sold; by then, your credit is already down the toilet.
Best option: Negotiate with your creditors to save yourself from getting calls.

@VITO_G_Wagon What people don't understand is that 99% of debt collection companies are legit; it's the 1% that give the industry a bad rep.
What debtors don't know is that if you are willing to make payments and are KIND, a lot can die done to help you pay less.

Whilst this information is true in America, there is no such document permitted in the NCA and DCC Act.

If your defaulted debt is purchased by a new company, ask for proof that you were notified of the new owner.
