With four senators absent and Escudero excluded, only 19 senator-judges would be voting, which means a simple majority of 10 votes would be needed to change the threshold to convict Duterte. https://t.co/QmHhWYbcc6
KAPUNAN ON PADILLA’S ‘ONE-SIDED’ REMARK: ’YUN ANG QUOTE FOR THE DAY
Lawyer Lorna Kapunan, counsel for the prosecutors, shared her views on Senator-judge Robin Padilla's earlier statement that the prosecution should not be "one-sided" in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
“Prosecution should really be one-sided, hindi ba? ‘Yun ang task ng prosecution. The defense is also one-sided because they have to prove the defense, ‘di ba? So, both sides should be one-sided,” Kapunan said after the ninth day of the trial on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Kapunan said that the prosecution panel is "very happy" with the developments in the impeachment trial after the testimony of NBI director Melvin Matibag, their last witness for Article IV (grave threat).
“We’re very happy because I think, as Jinky [Luisto] said, as our lead prosecutor, there was even no need for redirect examination. We are happy that through our evidence, we were able to prove betrayal of public trust,” said the private prosecutor. | via Anna Barlam
