What not to do, respect our marine mammals 🚫🌊 | #ONLYinDADE
*🗞️ Over the weekend a group of manatees swam close to the shore at Peanut Island sandbar with people touching them, taking selfies, and distributing the mob of manatees. Shortly after an individual on a jetski can be seen also trying to get a selfie, and eventually floating right on top of the manatees causing them to panic, and scaring them away. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) are investigating the actions that occurred and captured on Sunday. Manatees are protected by The Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 and the Endangered Species Act of since 1973 can be fine of up to $500 and/or a jail term of up to 60 days.
