@golf_stash@cyclegaz How much is the road tax for pedestrians? Or lorry drivers? Or anyone? Exactly the same. The vehicle you choose to drive may incur some tax based on the damage it causes to help to pay for it's cost to society. Cycles have an inverse cost to society so pay £0. Hope that helps :)
Officers from our Roads And Transport Squad are out on Operation Close Pass today
Any cyclist found to be passing cars too closely will be stopped & spoken to
They could be subject to a fine of up to £71.75 & seizure of their bicycle
Making roads safer in Sandford
@Samuel_D_Harris I kind of agree, but also disagree. A frame number database would help with theft. The more people who cycle the better and cheaper the cost to society, so the small cost of 3rd party insurance should be covered by the government and apply to anyone on a bike, even children.
@tomflood1 Replies to this thread saying ‘but I choose not to do you shouldn’t’ can get in the bin. Do you tell other people not to listen to music or is that just cyclists?
@PeterBrownbill6 @Sustrans Which is why other people should walk or cycle if they can. Some people need to drive for a living or if they have mobility issues. So those who can walk or bike should and free up road space for those who need it.
@smbrander@natalia_barbour 1 mile = 15 — 20 minutes walk or or 4 — 6 minutes to cycle. The average adult spends far longer on their phone. It’s a policy failure.
@azb2019@theJeremyVine @TheWarOnCars @London_Cycling@KingstonCycling @markandcharlie @cyclegaz Some of the replies to this thread are shocking! The car should have obeyed the sign giving oncoming traffic priority. Failing that they could easily have slowed rather than drive at somebody on the wrong side of the road. It’s either dangerous ineptitude or entitled bullying.
