ON THE SHOOTING OF THREE ROCHESTER COPS

Rochester is a war zone.

And every shift a cop works is a combat tour.

If you don’t believe me, you can go out to Chili Avenue or Thurston Road and help the fireman hose the cop blood off the sidewalk.

It was Friday night after most of us had gone to bed, a frantic call to 911 about an ex-boyfriend with a gun trying to break into the house. He opened up on the cops the moment they arrived, and he got both of them. One of them can tell you about it, the other is between surgeries, in critical condition, in a medically induced coma.

Another guy fell with them, the one who called 911, the new boyfriend, riddled with bullets, his licensed handgun at his side.

A third Rochester officer encountered the subject a few minutes later and a few blocks away, and ordered him to stop. He didn’t. He fired on the officer and struck him in his gun arm, rendering it useless, and the cop had to fire back with his support hand.

Then a fourth officer ran in, and she put the bastard down.

That’s right, she. She put the bastard down and, pending a sort out of the ballistics, became the first female officer in the history of the Rochester Police Department to shoot a subject to death. It’s probably not a glass ceiling anybody aspires to break, but it’s where her duty took her, and Rochester cops go where their duty takes them.

That’s because they are warriors, and that’s why they are warriors.

Because the circumstances dictate, because the people need, because the reality is the reality – every shift is a combat tour.

And days after the city’s newest police widow stood in court to face the man who hired the hit man who killed her husband, they called two Code 77s and the surgeons at Strong had three cops and a victim on the table, and one of the cops was in a very bad way.

Days after emergency vehicles lined the streets around Strong to flash their lights for the hospitalized kids, doctors and nurses saw the lights gather again and they knew, hunching over a mangled warrior in the surgical suite, that life or death hung somewhere between their hands and God’s grace.

While a wounded department waited outside and clung to texts and posts, trying to stay connected and stay composed, 120 empty positions in their ranks in a week when City Council gave itself a 25-percent raise.

The community prayed and the chief’s voice grew weak with worry and fatigue, and everybody said it was horrible, but nobody could say they hadn’t seen it coming. Because when you’re pro-criminal and anti-police, stuff’s going to happen, and the political class in Rochester and Albany are both pro-criminal and anti-police.

If you stood on the front porch of Assemblyman Demond Meeks’ West Main Street office, you could have heard the gunshots that wounded these officers, just like on any random night from his office you are apt to hear the gunshots that terrorize the good people of Rochester who want nothing more than to be able to live their lives in peace and safety. And yet, Assemblyman Demond Meeks is stridently pro-criminal and anti-police, like almost half of the City Council.

The City Council that has released repeated statements in support of illegal aliens, but has not said a word about these three wounded police officers.

Almost 48 hours after the attacks on the cops, we still don’t know the name or the criminal history of the assailant. And we know why.

At least we think we do.

Because if this is anything like the norm, this was someone known by the police, an ex-con, maybe a parolee, somebody with some appearance tickets and a few bench warrants, a career criminal who lived in a state without legal consequences and a city where the most profitable activist grift is preaching hatred for the police.

Clownish scammers calling press conferences and squawking about “police-community relations.” Milking it for grants or a city job or a payout from some foundation.

That’s the reality.

The good people of Rochester, of whom there are many tens of thousands, and the police officers of the city, of whom there are really only a small handful, all living or working in a war zone.

And each shift is a combat tour.

And it’ll take a lot more than a firehose to wash that blood off the politicians’ hands.

DUMB AND DUMBER, STARRING MALIK AND DAVE

The city of Rochester is FUBARed.

Today, stuttering behind a lectern, the mayor condemned a handful of city cops for backing up law enforcement officers who called for help.

It was Malik at his worst, it was progressivism at its most disgusting. In a city where the murder of a legal immigrant hasn’t elicited a response from City Hall or the Sixth Floor, the mayor and the chief have taken some 10 cops off the street because of the handcuffing of two illegal immigrants.

On the day a mother got sentenced for leaving her baby to be dismembered by pit bulls while she went to smoke marijuana, the thing Mayor Numb and Chief Nuts called a press conference to denounce was cops answering a call for help.

It was Monday night, at Lyell and Whitney, one of the easier places in Rochester to get shot, and Homeland Security was doing a traffic stop. This is America. They’re allowed to do that. They were effecting a traffic stop pursuant to their federal duties and at some point, with eight subjects in a van, things got cockeyed and somebody called for backup.

That means officers in trouble.

That means somebody with a badge and a gun could die.

And while that’s no big deal to people who key Teslas, it will draw a response from other people who wear a badge and a gun. And the RPD came running. Just like they come running every time anybody calls for help. It’s in their job description. It’s in their DNA. The blue and whites flocked and pretty soon there were maybe 10 Rochester officers at the scene.

Ten men and women who descended on a scene at which other law enforcement officers had judged there to be a possible threat.

They descended on the scene and they secured the scene. Which I’m pretty sure is something they learn at cop school. You don’t have to watch too many YouTubes of cops getting shot to realize that when the stuff is in the wind you should make sure the various loitering homies aren’t going to pull a gun out of their saggy baggies and blow you away.

And that is what the officers seem to have done. They looked in the van, they had contact with the subjects, and, according to Dumb and Ass, one of the officers assisted federal agents in removing two of the individuals from the vehicle and handcuffing them.

That’s what happened. Nobody got maced, tased, shot or called the F-word. Just a bunch of officers showed up, to rejigger the math of the confrontation, and two guys, without force or resistance, got handcuffed.

And Dumb and Dumber are outraged.

Because Rochester is a sanctuary city, which means it’s a great place to steal a Kia and the best place to be an illegal alien. And in a town where some 50 Americans get handcuffed on the average day, Frick and Frack pissed their pants because two illegal aliens, for officer safety, got handcuffed.

Let me translate that for you: That means Puss and Boots like people who broke into our country more than they like born-and-raised Rochesterians. It may also mean that Malik the Weak is getting nervous about that primary against Mary Lupien. When it comes to woke Democrats, the only way to beat stupid is with more stupid.

And this was stupid.

This was two years of a steady hand at the tiller blown to smithereens with a headlong leap into the absurd. This was a two-minute reminder on the evening news that you should thank God you don’t live in the city of Rochester. This was the reason “lateral transfer” was trending on local search engines.

This was, hopefully, enough to bring down the wrath of Homan on the Flower City -- named for the action end of the marijuana plant. Federal officers were in trouble, Rochester officers came to their assistance, and those Rochester officers got jacked up by Peter and Principle.

And this comes a week before the application deadline to take the next Rochester Police Department test. You’ve got to figure this will really help recruitment.

Here’s my conclusion: This is bullshit.

Two weak men called a press conference to denounce strong men who did their legal and moral duty. Dog and Crap put black marks on the careers of maybe a dozen officers, all to virtue signal their woke bona fides.

And the people of Rochester turned off the evening news astounded by the stupidity of their mayor and police chief, dumbfounded to learn that the brass hates the cops that much.
