I’ve thought long and hard about about my vote for mayor. And At the end of the day, I’m tired of feeling unsafe in our city. @Janeese4DC has been soft on crime and even voted against the youth curfews. With her as mayor, I’d feel even more scared to go out at night.

It’s not.

It’s censorship.

Here’s why they are full of shit:

***1) How the Rule Works:***

Section 315(a) applies to “use” of network with four core exemptions:

* Bona fide news coverage
* Bona fide news interviews
* Bona fide documentaries
* On the spot news coverage

**2) Interviews on Late Night are Exempt:***

Under the FCC’s own guidelines a late night talk show like “The Late Show” counts as a bona fide interview so long as the segment is an interview - because it meets the “independent editorial standard”

If they had Talarico on to do a skit or a game show then that triggers equal time.

***3) Time is not automatic nor mandatory:***

Equal time does not mean a candidate *must* get that time, only that the must get it if they request it within 7 days of the other candidates appearance.

***4) Doesn’t Apply to Republicans During Primary:***

Because this is during a primary, the equal time clause would only apply to Jasmine Crockett, not to Republicans. Colbert has no problem featuring Crockett and has done so before.

***5) There isn’t a gag rule:***

The equal time rule doesn’t prevent you from mentioning its censorship on air.

This was a decision by Bari Weiss and pressure from the FCC.

This is political censorship.

If Bari Weiss wants to make editorial decisions to censor political candidates at the request of the Trump admin, she doesn’t get to get away with pretending it’s because of some legal rule.

@DaveCrance @AssocAnderson This is false. I’ve been in 18 years & can attest that most service members maintain residency in the state they joined from. All states have laws on the books making it easy for military residents to keep their drivers license and voter registration.
