The Padres lost an 8-3 series-decider to MacKenzie Gore and the Nationals. It’s their most lopsided defeat by an NL-worst team (by winning percentage) since Sept. 1, 2021. Now, it’s getting more and more difficult to justify buying before the Aug. 1 deadline.
