Violent crime is at historic lows in Baltimore and cities across the country under the leadership of mayors who have brought together partners from law enforcement, the legal system, and communities to reduce violence.

The president could learn a lot about leadership from them.

Baltimore ended the first half of 2022 with 179 homicides, the worst first half of a year on record (since 1970).
Baltimore just ended the first half of 2025 with 68 homicides, which is the fewest on record.
That’s a 62 percent drop from 2022-2025

Through March, Baltimore has experienced 34 homicides - the fewest for the first 3 months on record in the city's modern history (since 1970).
Prior fewest: 39, in 1977 (city population then was 830,000). Previously saw 40 killings to start 2010, 41 in 2012 & 44 in 2014 & 2011
