@fawfulfan@Lemommeringue I love the West in all its stunning, intimidating glory, but...there are vast expanses of beautiful nothing just west of the northeast megalopolis. Outside of the cities, NY and PA are stunning.
This is 70 miles from Manhattan in a PA county with fewer than 6,000 residents.
@RayMoffo well, if he still is he's at the very tail end of it. and in 3+ years he's certainly not gonna be.
doesn't move the needle or align with any sort of contention timeline. I get that he's The New Name On The Block but let's try to think big picture here.
@shaigfugbfje@TheLibertyYell Really all hinges on whether Larkin is specifically targeting one or teo teams or if he's open to a number of them (in which case? bidding war).
He kinda holds the cards with a NTC. Also depends on if Detroit is tearing down or looking to "improve"/break even at the NHL level.
@interracials3x ehh it was different things in different places at different times I think. I went to college in Pittsburgh, which is charmingly about a decade behind cultural trends at any given time, and all of the Brooklyn hipster trappings were still fresh and earnest there in 2012.
@TheLibertyYell Larkin cost is dependent on his wishes because he has a full NTC and that can go a couple of ways. But at least a third of the league will be courting him. The cost will be pretty high.
@TheLibertyYell When we think about building through trades: The Canes got 8 years of K'Andre Miller for a late 1st and a 2nd. The Habs did the same for Noah Dobson, two mid 1sts. Top pair Ds, got their whole primes locked up for a couple picks.
Those are the types of trades you wanna look for.
@TheLibertyYell Yeah I mean he's a center who is a year older than Travis Konecny and puts up Travis Konecny numbers. Are we tryna build towards contention or just 3 more years of losing in the second round?
I'd want Beniers out of that group. Wright if real cheap. Meh on McTavish and Larkin.
I dunno. It might be fun to have like, a 30 year old Dylan Larkin and a 400 year old John Carlson on the team. Probably see the second round a couple more times. Maybe get slapped around in a Conference Final once. Don't think it does much more for you than that.
