@MilaLovesJoe I don’t know if it is true or not, but it isn’t Federal Tax Evasion. The value reduction impacts property taxes, not (Federal) income taxes (unless he sold the house). So it is a State/Local tax evasion issue. I am not familiar with Illinois law on property tax evasion.

@PoliticalWarri2 @brithume You like to pick out one year what did Mr Bezos pay on 2006, what about 2008? What did he pay from 2002-2022 (probably the last year available at this point)? Income had a way of fluctuating a lot year to year. Especially for the wealthy. Looking over time is much more real.

I just saw Illinois enacted a Fed SALT limit workaround. This only helps the rich who pay a lot of SALT. I thought the Dems position was the rich aren’t paying enough taxes. Why are all the Dem states working so hard to give the rich a tax break?
