Former Parliamentary candidate East Grinstead and Uckfield, Labour & Co-operative Wealden district Councillor for Uckfield New town @UKLabour and @CoopParty
Today, we commemorate 82 years since the Normandy landings, beginning the liberation of Western Europe.
We honour the bravery and sacrifice of all those who fought and defeated fascism.
We will remember them.
With @SkyNews and @BethRigby showing a close relationship with Mendelsohn and @Nigel_Farage today in the files. Will there be fresh calls for Nigel's WhatsApp messages? Peter made it sound like they are talking a lot and with Nigel saying he is close to Trump, this is important
I want every family to have fun this summer. That's why I’m cutting VAT on children’s activities and meals with Great British Summer Savings.
Our economic plan is the right one, to support families and businesses, and build a stronger and more secure Britain.
NEW: Fuel duty will not rise this year.
When global events push up prices, working people feel it first. That’s why we’re acting to keep costs down, extending the cut on fuel duty for the rest of the year.
This will support millions of drivers and protect household budgets.
Hard‑working families are still feeling the squeeze and too often think they have to hold back.
To add to the support we've already put in, we're making sure all children in England can travel free on buses in August.
More investment into the nation, interest rates down and now inflation falling more than expected. Change takes time but we are getting there even with wars, tariffs and so much more thrown at the UK. This Prime Minister may be boring but thats what this nation needs.
Good news: inflation has fallen today.
Our action to reduce energy bills - with the price cap dropping by £117 - means inflation is now lower.
There’s more to do - this government is delivering for Britain.
For too long, organised criminals have exploited our high streets to launder their dirty money.
Not anymore.
We will shut these shop fronts down and drive crime off our high streets to protect communities and legitimate businesses.
Last week’s strong growth figures show that this government has the right economic plan.
Today, the IMF has upgraded the UK’s growth forecast.
We are building a stronger, fairer Britain.
@fireytassimo Because he was the right hand man to the chancellor. They literally go over every plan and then set out the spending. Once they put forward the money and approve plans, they then make sure it is working. The HS implements the plan. But the treasury are the ones who work it out.
I’ll always champion peaceful protest. But the Unite the Kingdom march organisers are peddling hatred and division.
We’ve already blocked visas for far-right agitators who want to come here to spew their extremist views.
They don't speak for the decent, fair, respectful Britain I know.
@lukeakehurst I completely agree. We have so many good things to talk about today, but yet again, drama is killing the good news. Growth up, NHS waiting lists down and a good Kings speech. What is happening today only hurts us all.
