tl;dr: Btch has an unfixable issue, but the site is not closing down.

“I would like to apologize for the recent downtime experienced by Btch and take this opportunity to outline my vision for its future.

“Btch garnered immense love and positive feedback, but it faced a critical flaw: its inability to compete with Bluesky.

“I launched Btch prematurely, lacking the necessary readiness and that meant the site was plagued by bugs. My haste to publish resulted in poor-quality code and a lack of foresight.

“Upon embarking on the iOS and Android app development, I recognized the inherent flaws in Btch’s foundation. Implementing these apps would have proven almost impossible due to the corner-cutting measures I had made in my rush to launch. Without a comprehensive rewrite and expedited implementation, the site could not withstand the increasing traffic.”

Btch’s journey is far from over. Stay tuned for an announcement within the next 24 hours.

We are aware of a temporary outage caused by an upstream provider, meaning Btch is showing as unavailable.

We are working hard to migrate Btch and get it back up and running.
