I program computers design websites & make cool history slide videos. I have a medical, electronics and teaching background. Hey, I also love dogs, cats ...
@jeffjarvis@MonicaHesse I worked as a medical technologist, registered hematologist and worked in a cancer lab at the Veteran's Hospital too. I know sample size using SMA analyzers. Extremely sophisticated. I had my doubts that almost microscopic samples could do so many tests!
@chucktodd Had to turn off GPS when Bill Maher started talking about how we are turning socialist. Bull shit. We are Capitalists that are letting rich people be dictators, socialism doesn't destroy but help Capitalism.
@jeffjarvis@timnitGebru Watch The Ghost and the machine. It was pretty easy to keep watching. I started the other one the AI dock and I had to stop it after about a few minutes. I'll have to watch this in parts. It sounds more like a propaganda film.
@GrossWeather Re-reading 'The Diary of an Isle Royale School Teacher' when Dorothy Simonson & her 6 yr old son, spent the school year on the island, Sep1932-May1933. She lists high temps from Nov 5-Apr29. -43°F Feb10,33 but some winter days in the 60s. (-38 at noon Feb 9,33)
@jeffjarvis I showed my programming to a high school student, learning AI with Python programming, he pulled up a chair during my lunch-prep. I may have hooked him, he said he looked into Andrew Ng. Our students are going to make the media stupid about AI.
@GrossWeather AI ~Your memory is entirely correct: Gainesville hit a staggering 102°F on June 14, 1977. This stands as one of the highest officially recorded temperatures in the city's history. [1] (I believe the humidity was lower, thank God.)
@GrossWeather Yes, I lived in Gainesville, Fla, from 1976-1981 and I think it only got to 100 or above one period of time. And when it did, the air was dryer. I don't miss it, but I do Mort Crim, and excited for his podcast on YouTube.
