A brute fact is a fact that obtains for no reason.

It is this rather than that — with no determination for why.

But "this rather than that" is a contrast.

A contrast that obtains is a determinate fact.

A determinate fact with no determination is a contradiction — something is determinately the case and undetermined at the same time.

Brute facts don't end explanation.

They end coherence.

Every philosopher or physicist who rests on them built their house on a contradiction and called it a foundation.
