@ReeFi_Aus Welcome @jsgumbula. Great to have your inputs Brother. I’ve always enjoyed our discussions. Looking forward to your help ensuring the latest tech for caring for our seas gets directly into the longest-caring hands.
@ReeFi_Aus@LumaLabsAI@vibrantnebula That’s a pretty challenging subject. Interesting how it handles the transients of the water surface, and the movement/sub-pixel detail of the algae growing on much of that colony.
Prediction: NeRF will overtake photogrammetry for prosumer-level underwater visualisations in the next few months; photogrammetry will hold its lead for technical derivations - but only until NeRF data manipulation tools catch up. @ReeFi_Aus this is really exciting work 👌👌💪
#CoralReef survey -> @LumaLabsAI Web based #NeRF -> 3D model export -> Blender -> #GreatBarrierReef revealed and explored.
Lots of room for improvement but this is a pretty incredible world first @Scobleizer @kluless_ @gravicle
Lets see where it leads...
@d_gershenson@CoralVitaReefs Scaleability… a million outplanted corals is a drop in the ocean… literally a couple acres of nice reef. Before Jacques Cousteau only a few hundred hard hat divers. SCUBA has created 10 million enthusiasts - not enough to change the world. Scale is the missing ingredient.
@d_gershenson $350M is not a lot if the goal is radical transformation. So I’d spend it on empowering the next billion hearts and minds. I’d pick ONE focus. Coral reefs - canary of climate change - and employ new tech to bring the issues to living rooms as immersive SCUBA-less experiences.
@minorityprogram For something this big, and@all of it underwater, even surveying all the reefs each year would be a huge advance. But@once we have a mapped framework, it can be added to very quickly.

A development tale:
We’ve been quiet lately, be assured we’ve been busy. After our recent trip to @HeronIsle on the #GreatBarrierReef we have a collection of incredible reef models. Photo realistic, mm accurate corals from a variety of reef locations.
Now we are -
Thanks @naturebarrels & Sasquatch! Its easy to work hard for a great cause. Big shout out to the talented and passionate @ReeFi_Aus team. There’s some lofty goals, but the tech is good and there’s never been a more pressing time to get big things done for the world’s reefs.
