@eddyportnoy The BDS organisation made a senseless statement denouncing Standing Together as that most loathed of insults--"normalisers"--w/o substantiating their rebuke in a manner that made any evidentiary sense. Classic circular firing squad behaviour. I posted a critical 🧵 about it here.
A rare, good story:
Standing Together, an Israel-based NGO that opposes racism & hatred, outnumbered settlers blocking a food shipment to Gaza.
As a result of ST's presence, the group of settlers left & this aid got through. Mabrouk & mazel tov to these everyday heroes! 👏
@JoshuaParkhurst @nadiaaakd How is it performative? They said it's the first time this week a convoy went through without any of the aid being destroyed
Omg it's not a terrible joke. There is actually a "Fatties for Gaza" movement.
The irony of yelling about a so-called famine while looking like a land whale.
@HenMazzig Strange how Palestinians are not collectively responsible for the behaviour of Hamas - yet a young Israeli women is demonised for being Jewish!
This is currently the situation outside of Eden Golan's hotel room.
Because of her nationality, hundreds of people who hate her are screaming outside of her room.
What happens if she goes outside? You hurt her so she quits? You kill her so she can't perform?
If you are this angry about Eurovision having an Israeli perform then boycott the show.
Gathering in the hundreds to scream at a singular woman whose main crime is her ethnicity is not acceptable.
@kathbarbadoro List bad but what was even more startling was how many people in the replies pointing out ones she got very clearly wrong, and how long she took to update them
the funniest thing about the man vs. bear discourse is how it’s every conversation between men and women ever
women wanted men to empathize with their fears about men and men wanted to provide material help by making sure women understood the actual dangers of bears
That's in some ways a silly argument: people should protest what they want to protest, and lots of protesters think that Israel should not exist as a Jewish state. But I think that's a political dead end in the US, and makes it easy for people to ignore the rest of your message.
I think the college protests would have been more successful if they had focused on the way Netanyahu is waging the war in Gaza, allowing settler violence in the West Bank, and annexing West Bank land, while not engaging with the question of Israel's right to exist.
Extremist settlers are undermining security and stability and threatening prospects for peace.
Today we are announcing further sanctions on those responsible for the unprecedented rise in settler violence.
The Israeli authorities must clamp down on this issue.
Why won’t Israel demolish the house of the Israeli settlers who burned Ahmed Abo Khdir a Palestinian kid alive from Shufat back in 2014، or the Israeli settlers who burned to death a whole family while a sleep in Duma, Nablus
Why won’t their homes be demolised?
Answer me!
@unluckypants @OliviasAuntieCA @barbara84530729@notcapnamerica Swim lessons are expensive so maybe they couldn’t afford it, they may not have had access to a safe place to swim, they may not have had someone to teach them for free
Christopher Gilbert is an aspiring medical doctor with a masters in biological science. His friends pushed him into a Louisiana lake, knowing he couldn’t swim. Then didn’t bother to help him get out as he was drowning.
He’s now brain dead. https://t.co/dNKDRQ2oCj
But they shouldnt have to!!! This is the equivalent of forcing a Muslim student organization off campus because they may or may not have ties to certain Muslim countries. It’s outrageous. It’s definitely antisemitism.
