We are a coalition of PhD students across departments at Boston Univ. fighting for equitable policies and plans for Fall 2020 and the duration of the pandemic.
For followers old and new, please go to https://t.co/wJnwbeYJiJ ! We have pages for both PhD students and all kinds of allies, find the page that fits you and sign up to find ways to help! #BeBetterBU
Given the ongoing disruptions due to the pandemic, the Coalition along with other grad orgs have written @BU_Tweets admin to ask for the creation of a Summer 2021 Pandemic Fund (1/2) #BostonUniversity#BeBetterBU https://t.co/ZgTiZ87GQp
to provide stipends to doctoral students without current summer funding and the establishment of a policy that all PhD students get 12 months funding. (2/2) #BostonUniversity#BeBetterBU
This looks like a great professional development opportunity for @BU_GRS doc students! We're looking forward to seeing the full system for all doc students in the future 🙂 Thanks @sashabgold and @sechobot for developing this!
.@BU_Tweets community: if you were confused about the instructions to fill out the phase 2 survey, follow these directions: go to send a message in Patient Connect, choose the option of COVID-19, and there should be an option for the Phase 2 survey there #BeBetterBU
With isolation beds probably at almost half capacity and the more transmissible strain of COVID in MA, we fear these numbers will just continue to rise as @BU_Tweets' 'residential experience' puts students, faculty, staff, and the Boston community at higher risk #BeBetterBU
Since classes started back in-person a week ago, 134 @BU_Tweets community members have tested positive for COVID, and an unknown number are in quarantine as close contacts. #BeBetterBU
13 students and two employees at #BostonUniversity tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.
139 students are in isolation, more than ever before and setting the fourth record in four days.
The positive rate is 0.77% for students, 0.12% for faculty, and 0.52% for staff.
The results are in from this week's @BU_Tweets COVID testing: 87 confirmed cases! School hasn't even started. If this were last fall, we would be front page headlines. But it's even worse now because we're at 5000 cases/day in MA. Not the ideal time to start in-person classes.
#AcademicTwitter#PhDChat Did/Does your school cover your dental insurance as a PhD student? If you answer yes, we'd love it if you could provide us with a link to the policy on your school's website!

.@BU_Tweets the pandemic is worsening with a rising toll of death and suffering far worse than last spring. Now is the time to listen to your own public health experts-- remote classes until everyone is vaccinated! #BeBetterBU
This morning, a coalition of more than 150 faculty, students, alumni, and friends sent this open letter to @BUSPH urging the school to open online because we are at the absolute peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. https://t.co/kajQwQSz89
#BostonUniversity's spring semester doesn't start for another two weeks, but there are already more students in isolation now than there were at the height of BU's post-Halloween spike.
I've been recording BU's COVID-19 numbers every day for almost five months, so I now have a lot of data to use for comparisons and predictions.
With spring move-in starting this week, we're on track for our fourth major spike. It could be our largest. 🧵
