JUST IN: The Federal Reserve did it. The Fed hiked interest rates a quarter point to 3.75 to 4%. This is the highest interest rate since late 2025. The vote was unanimous (12 to 0)

The statement says: “Inflation remains elevated. Today's policy action will support a timelier return to the Committee's 2 percent goal. The Committee will deliver price stability.”

***Big news = The “Dot Plot” forecasts 1 more hike this year and then a lot of uncertainty for 2027 (most anticipating rates the same or lower next year).

May Allah preserve the life of Aliko Dangote in good health. The continent needs him. I understand the resentment towards the rich and successful, and those who feel he doesn’t deserve the accolades he gets because of where he comes from. But Alhaji deserves even more accolades

Whatever benefits you assume or believe Dangote has accessed from various governments, there are thousands of others, many closer to the government than he is, who have enjoyed the same.

The fact that he has come this far against all odds in a hostile business environment shows that there is something he has done more competently than others. Even the crudest nepotism can only be sustained if the beneficiary has something to offer.
