@RobCodispot@BlueChipCards_@AustinOravec Teams who need pitching but can’t attract free agent pitchers because of the parks they playin such as Colorado and Sacramento. Also it appears he pitched hurt for most of the season. Some team will be willing to take a low risk shot on him bouncing back.
@BigPhoenix6741@JesusSavesPHL@PhilsTailgate Phillies don’t have enough to get Oneil Cruz. They have the ultimate stars and scrubs team which makes a trade like that impossible. Not trading Harper Schwarber Turner or any of their SPs. Who is left with enough value to get Cruz? Marsh? Crawford? Stott? JT? Nope
@pIRATEme1@MakedatMarc@steelcitydw As a Dodger fan don’t you want to see if your team would still have the same success without having such a huge financial advantage?
@pIRATEme1@MakedatMarc@steelcitydw A salary floor/cap will produce more opportunities for success. Teams still have to make good management and personnel decisions. But the primary factor won’t be about how much $ a team has.
@pIRATEme1@MakedatMarc@steelcitydw Cheap owners are a problem no question. I am willing to admit that. It boggles my mind when people claim with a straight face that this current system promotes fair competition. But hey I get it. If I am a Dodger fan I wouldn’t want to admit my titles are bought either.
@pIRATEme1@MakedatMarc@steelcitydw Why do you think the Pirates revenues are where they are? They are never going to be above the bottom 1/3 in the best of times. But the 1.7mil this year was a significant improvement over last year. Why? Pirates have lost a generation of fans thanks to Nutting. He does not care.
@pIRATEme1@MakedatMarc@steelcitydw Could it be the $4B sale price that convinced him to sell and not *checks notes* angry fans? You guys are really hilarious. I appreciate you.
@MaxMannis Neither of these teams have ever won the World Series despite doing basically everything right for years except spending big $. Winning this year doesn’t change the fact that $ makes up for a lot of mistakes and bad luck.
@MaxMannis Before this season there has been 1 bottom 10 payroll team to win it all since 2004. Money is still the primary factor in winning it all. This outlier year doesn’t change that. Teams like LAD and NYY will not suddenly shed payroll and spend like the Brewers and TB.
@pIRATEme1@MakedatMarc@steelcitydw McCourt sold amid a contentious divorce and bankruptcy. Fans had nothing to do with it. Moreno has been contemplating selling for years. Again fans had nothing to do with it.
