Bill Simmons last week:
“I’m incredibly confident. I feel great. I love that everybody loves Seattle.
I don’t think their defense is great. I don’t think they can overpower us. It’s not one of those defenses that’s gonna get 10 sacks”
NEWS: The NCAA has denied Trinidad Chambliss a sixth-year of eligibility, which would his college career. The decision comes after a verbal denial in December. Ole Miss can still appeal the decision.
the part i don’t think we say enough about is kiffin clearly didn’t think this team was good enough to do it and now there’s no argument that they can’t. you can argue they won’t. but zero reason they can’t.
and he bailed.
That Ole Miss game was a delight! Great play by play job by Sean McD as always. Chambliss was out of his mind. The Ole Miss sports movie script is still alive. And yeah Lane Kiffin’s Ewing Theory application has been speed-rushed and approved.

At least try to hide it. My lord.
I’ve got a list of 10 things he could have done better. There are more:
1. Don’t tweet daily devotional ambiguously teasing whether he would stay or go.
2. Don’t have other schools’ airplanes plop down in Oxford during rivalry week. There are covert ways to travel without rubbing your team’s face in it.
3. Don’t tweet out things like Kiffin 2026 hats in Ole Miss colors if you are planning on, or even just considering, leaving.
4. If you don’t want to be a distraction from the accomplishment of your team, don’t retweet people from other schools talking about how much they want you.
5. If you’re not going to talk about your job hunt, be consistent. Don’t go on Pat McAfee for a scripted interview or sit with Ross Dellenger for one where you cover it.
6. Don’t use your (not really your) dog’s Twitter account to tweet cryptically about Ole Miss in the SEC championship THE NIGHT before you leave.
7. Don’t insult Ole Miss attendance at an FCS (Citadel) game on your way out the door.
8. When your AD tells you you’re not going to be able to coach the playoffs if you’re leaving, take it like a man. Don’t initiate a national media surrogates’ campaign and don’t start making Machiavellian political moves to try and force your way in.
9. If you care at all about what you’ve built and the players you’ve had, don’t try to wreck the team on the way out because you’re pissed about the AD’s decision.
10. Try honesty for once in your life.
