Here are two habits I started dcades ago that have made a dramatic impact in my daily life and interactions with others.

The first, anytime I was running late, hit a detour, had to deal with bad traffic, I would thank God. Sounds sort of crazy, right? Maybe go the route of Moses and ask God to part the red sea of bad drivers, but thank Him?

My wife one day asked me why I did this.

It was a fairly simple reason. Had I been a few minutes earlier, I could have been the accident. Had we got out the door on time, it could have been us on an ambulance. Clearly, God had a reason, even if we had no idea what that reason was.

It was me trying to volcalize and practice a simple truth - God works things for my good. Detours, construction, getting out the door late, etc.

It has stuck with my wife to this day.

The second? Anytime someone is treating me unkindly - think customer service folks, store clerks, etc. , I try to say to myself, "I wonder what I don't know about what is going on in their life."

Perhaps their mom has cancer. Or their spouse left them. Or they are getting sick or just getting over having been really sick. Or perhaps their car broke down on the way to work that day and they are already just scratching buy financially.

Or one of a thousand reasons that doesn't justify their sin and that I am not privy to, being but a temporary passing stranger in their day, but that reminds me they are real people with real worries, fears, concerns, trials, sorrows and burdens.

And then I try to be as kind as possible to them from a genuine love and concern for those my Lord came to save.

Because I have trials, sorrows, worries, concerns, fears, and burdens too.

You see, we generally assume the worst about what happens to us and the worst about the why and how people treat us.

We don't easily trust God's promises nor cloth ourselves with compassion towards others as Christ does towards us.

These two things have helped me try to invert these sinful tendencies.

And in so doing they have generally helped me be more joyful and able to love those who cross my path

But before we discuss methods to achieve this noble end (e.g. homeschool vs St Brendan's Model), we need to ask ourselves: What is a "Christian" education? What are its left and right limits? What makes it "Christian" in the first place? That is what this whole first season is about.

@Brian_Sauve @Lexy_Sauve I was with Samaritan for years for some reason we got health insurance for 2023 as we were having another baby. It was the worst. Health insurance is a scam. Back with Samaritan as of January, never leaving again.
