@SBNasai @carthach86@morganisawizard It is capitalism coupled with free trade that doesn't work well for working people in industrialized nations because they simply can't compete with cheap labor overseas. It isn't capitalism, per se, that is the problem, it's the lack of tariffs to keep workers competitive.
@TarienCole @PeterSchiff Taxes reduce the amount of purchasing power people have, since they can't buy as much they don't drive up prices. Taxes also reduce the money supply because money is created from deficit spending.
@PeterSchiff Inflation occurs when workers are demanding more than companies can supply. Either you can reduce the workers' demand, as Peter is suggesting, or you can increase companies' production. You don't need tax increases if you simply fix supply chain issues and ramp up production.
@divine93086379@PeterSchiff Inflation occurs because there is too many people wanting too few services. Supply and demand. Taxing corporations doesn't reduce the number of people who demand toilet paper, nor would it increase the supply of toilet paper.
@ColdApe33 @PeterSchiff It's because only the middle class spends enough money on the goods and services that are driving inflation. If you want to reduce demand for baby food, for example, taxing the rich won't help because there's not enough rich people to make any difference in baby food purchases.
@VitalikButerin I mean, how much of the problem is simply due to the fact that the internet has finally fully been adopted by mainstream society? Is it just that the normies have finally completely joined the party?
@Jinxo67 @domothy@RyanSAdams BTC is on the same trajectory as ETH: blocks are the intrinsic value backing cryptos, whether maxis realise it or not. However, by focusing on the security of the token, BTC is creating military grade blocks. What types of applications will one day require military grade blocks?
@danheld Inflation occurs because the citizenry (labor) is spending more than capital is producing. If the government injects money into the citizenry without simultaneously pulling that money out via taxation (of labor), inflation occurs. You can't magically make everyone richer.
@PeterSchiff It does have underlying value, namely the most secure and immutable blockchain in existence. With no other competing PoW blockchain (all major competitors being PoS) and no way for private or national blockchains to bootstrap one, the security layer has attained intrinsic value.
@The_Crypto_Ent @mattyicesensei@gavinandresen I actually have first hand knowledge that some of the judges are reptilians. The ones that aren't either work for the deep state or are bought off.
@RaoulGMI If your understanding of crypto stops at "store of value," sure, the friction created by KYC seems like no big deal. But once you realize that crypto is to finance as social media is to news outlets, you recognize how problematic the friction will be.
@VitalikButerin@PeterMcCormack Bitcoin maximalists seem more likely to support Trump. I notice that in both maxis and Trumpers there is an inclination toward authoritarianism that pretends to be libertarianism.
