The moment most rich with dramatic irony for me when he protested to the cop “my brother controls the whole Massachusetts economy!” and the cop was like “okay yeah now you’re saying outlandish things”.

And I thought of Petterfy’s interview after the squeeze and thought, more like the *world* economy.

Which thing is more traumatizing for a child to witness— a penis in a public place or one man with an illness being beaten by four able-minded men?

Remember that four men working together not only have the capacity to apply great force, but also to apply great creativity. That might also look like them standing in a row like footballers at a penalty kick to block the visibility from a child or to stand like club bouncers or impromptu village security to make sure the man having a mental health episode did not act out violently and asking him to exit the train at the next stop while authorities are contacted. Authorities who are trained to bring procedure and deescalate situations like this.

Non-violence doesn’t mean that unacceptable things must go unattended.
