Six months ago, I was sitting in the same spot, just waking up and scrolling through Twitter. I saw your name trending and didn’t think much of it since it seemed to trend every other day. I decided not to look because I didn't want to see all the hate directed at you. Then someone tweeted me, asking if I was okay. I thought it was about a 911 incident, but she told me to look up your name. I felt a sickening knot in my stomach as I shakily clicked on it, and what I found felt like stepping straight into a nightmare: “Liam Payne found dead at 31.”
At first, I couldn’t believe it because it had only been hours since you were taking pictures with fans and posting a video asking us to donate to sick children—a testament to the beautiful person you were. Even though you were struggling and faced immense hate, you still spread love and kindness. I didn't believe the news; I was waiting for you to debunk the rumors, but that relief never came. Soon, the news was everywhere.
The saddest part about all of this is that your family learned the news at the same time as the rest of us. The media can be incredibly cruel, and they didn’t care how it affected your loved ones. To them, you were just a tragic story to spread around, but you were so much more than that, and you and your family deserved so much better.
Six months later, many of us are still grieving for you. I still mourn, but we’ve turned our grief into something positive and special. We are fighting for justice for you and have come together in ways that only Directioners can.
Liam, you were so incredibly loved—and you still are. We miss you every single day of our lives. I miss you every minute of every single day.
You will always be one of my favorite people in the world, even if you are not here. I love you so much.
His parents were plot devices and he’d only been on the show for like one full episode and that was literally 5 minutes in total lol and 10 seconds on the last episode…
