What do you look for reading practice reports?
Obviously, availability is number one. Football is a collision sport, not a contact sport, and guys do, unfortunately, get hurt. That matters.
Number two in the portal era is: did you hit on your high-priced acquisitions. With very few exceptions, everyone's on a budget. If you paid big-time money and that player is not starting, pretty decent chance you're in trouble because you went out and got him for a reason. You didn't believe the guy you had was good enough to do the job, and now that guy is still playing.
Your team had a great offseason in the weight room. They're unrecognizable compared to where they were last year.
That freshman who flashed in the scrimmage when all the starters were held out is going to be a major piece for you this year.
They also spent a lot more time bonding, and the staff really likes this team more this year. I don't know if they really liked last year's team and its personalities, but this year I think they got the right mix of leaders.
The defense is way more aggressive.
The offense is actually going to be creative and take shots and hit explosive plays.
And We are absolutely going to see massive improvement from the quarterback who has thrown a 500 college passes and, to this point, has had a terrible interception rate.
@CFBNerds I think they play two of the bottom three teams from the Big Ten as well. You could argue that the ACC has the toughest two opponents for Notre Dame, although if you want to say BYU is better than SMU because it's on the road, I wouldn't disagree.
Well, because I think there are three games where they have a huge advantage, and I think there are several where they're dominated physically. Three to eight wins sort of captures the potential outcomes. Will they quit? When? I don't know.
If he can just chuck it at Deuce Robinson like he chucked it at Cam Coleman last year in the one good game he had, I think he could lead FSU to somewhere between three and eight wins.
Ashton Daniels is a good athlete but has never been effective as a passer during his time at Stanford and a brief 2025 stint at Auburn. He'll try to revive Mike Norvell's squad at Florida State this fall. #cfbqbs26
@jayer4 It's probably one of those games with an NFL total that you still play under, and it goes over because of some defensive stuff, I guess. I think Georgia probably has a better chance of blocking Oklahoma than Oklahoma has of blocking Georgia.
Look, all true, but I still think they're going to be really good on defense. While I think there are valid reasons to doubt Mateer because of his eyes and the fact that he's been in this system for basically his whole college career and hasn't improved much in it, I do think the thumb thing was also real. Most importantly, the young offensive line, a year older, is really talented and should improve quite a bit. There are a lot of good reasons to be high on Oklahoma.
@NFThing27@BudElliott3 Oklahomas win total is 7.5. Don’t see it. They won a lot of close toss up games last year. Beat a horrible Auburn team on an illegal play and LSUs 3rd team was throwing in the end zone to beat them the last game. Also Bamas kicker missed a chip shot to beat them.
If you're going to go under on Texas Tech at 10.5 +160 would you rather have under 9.5 at +480? I guess that depends on whether the reason for your under is the quarterback uncertainty and the lack of depth in the room.
Anyway, if forced to pick, I'm going to take over. Loaded.
@MikeVivian@SteveSanders55 Steve, when you price them, I think you have to account, at least in my modeling, that they're one of the five teams that has a non-zero chance to make the playoffs if they were to go 9-3. I think that's reflected in their number. They really do have a tough schedule. Hello?
I took a stab at a preseason top 25 🤷♂️
Think it is really tight 8-15ish and there are more than 10 teams that could win a title.
Also think the odds the title is won by a team with a legit 1st round QB are higher this year than last because of how many there might be.
No Elijah Green at TU’s first preseason practice today.
Tre Lamb says he has a kneecap injury and TU will be cautious with his return.
Bixby alum Tyson Williams is moving from Safety to Corner.
As fall camp gets underway across the country, @mzenitz and I broke down the top remaining QB battles and what we're hearing with each situation.

Teams that lose the number one overall pick quarterback on average lose two more games in the regular season over the last quarter century than they did the year prior.
I think having Indiana at number three shows respect.
We are getting closer to what the top should be here.
But again how is Indiana not one in any Poll. Again it’s still name recognition guarantee you if Ohio St or Miami won they be one. Indiana skeptics still out there.
