@Matthew_Froese Try https://t.co/1zP0ullr5f; I just found it and it's Canadian, which could make the local timelines more relevant. I'm signing up and am going to migrate from https://t.co/Cw8qQitOKq to there.
@AFischerGames It's not looking good, Jim. You should come on over to a Mastodon instance. It's actually pretty great. I've been getting to know things on https://t.co/7hdx4Orn01 and while there's a bit of uncanny valley as it's all familiar but different, overall it's been pretty great!
I know we are all sick of hearing about COVID and more sick of having to worry about COVID.
It looks like we will be doing annual COVID boosters just like influenza. Compared to what we've had to do these last few years, this is no big deal. Get boosted! (And get your flu shot)
@AFischerGames My main worry is that there's a misunderstanding that Twitter's issues are economic or technological, when in fact the largest issue is a political one. We'll see what happens! Maybe we'll all just go back to blogs and commenting :-)
@AFischerGames But...I also can't think of any other platform that would let me so easily just chat with the designer of some of my favourite games...directly. So that's a cool thing about this one!
@AFischerGames Both platforms can also make it pretty easy to never see the terrible stuff, which is nice. That said, I worry that the new Twitter owner doesn't actually understand the history or value of the platform, and will undermine the structures that have given it value over time.
Business executive says Kanye created hostile work environment due to obsession with Hitler:
“He’d praise Hitler saying how incredible it was that he was able to accumulate so much power & would talk about all the great things he & the Nazi Party achieved for the German people.”
@BigZaphod And I actually quite like SM on macOS. So...it's weird. There's some odd choices on the iPad side I hope they fix. Got Viticci's article saved for some reading later. I also wonder how deep the work had to go to add windowing/more robust multitasking to iPad.
@BigZaphod During the beta, until they pulled external display support, I often used stage manager on my external display and standard split-window/slide-over on my iPad. Worked great! Now I only use it when I need to ensure an app stays open.
@BigZaphod Really notable is that all the open windows in a stage stay in memory. I have some things I'll do in aShell that can take a while to run, and I always had to keep it as a front-most window to make sure the OS didn't unload it. I can now just toss it behind others & keep working!
@BigZaphod How do you feel about the cursor on iPad? Genuinely curious; it snaps to things and is generally very un-computer-like in how it behaves. I've come to like it a lot. Stage manager has issues, for sure, but I've generally enjoyed the flexibility it offers me.
@Fobwashed Thanks! I was mainly curious where you got started. My daughter's been interested in making them for a while and my wife isn't nearly as willing to experiment as I am. Winter's coming, so we'll have plenty of indoor time to refine it over time :-)
@Todd_Friesen April 2022 was definitely bad luck. But now? It's just the season for this sort of weather. Very common in Oct/Nov and then again heading through spring. I wrote about the upcoming one a bit over on https://t.co/tNvdMCisvq earlier today.
