FORMER PRESIDENT OLUSEGUN OBASANJO HAILS GOVERNOR MUTFWANG, ADVOCATES GLOBAL SPOTLIGHT FOR PLATEAU UNITY CAROL
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has praised the leadership of Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for sustaining unity, continuity, and shared purpose through the Plateau Unity Christmas Carols.
Speaking at the Ten Commandments site in Doi, Jos South, before thousands of worshippers on Friday, November 28, 2025, Obasanjo thanked God for the unity restored in the state and described the gathering as a powerful expression of faith.
He commended former Governor Jonah David Jang for initiating the Ten Commandments project, noting that though initially misunderstood, it has evolved into a global symbol of faith, resilience, and cultural identity. Obasanjo congratulated Jang for starting and sustaining the project against the odds.
He also applauded Governor Mutfwang for advancing the legacy with integrity and continuity, an area he said many governments struggle with.
Obasanjo emphasized that the Plateau Unity Christmas Carol has the potential to become an international spiritual tourism event and urged the government to develop a long-term strategy and infrastructure to host global pilgrims.
Governor Mutfwang, in his welcome address, officially opened the 2025 Plateau Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival (2nd edition), reaffirming his administration’s commitment to unity, harmony, and shared purpose. He called on citizens to set aside divisions, embrace reconciliation, and recognize Plateau as a divine gift to the nation.
He dedicated the festival to God, praying for renewed brotherhood and collective healing.
The event brought together diverse communities, national leaders, Obasanjo, General Martin Luther Agwai, former Governor Jang, government officials, and thousands of worshippers—reaffirming Plateau State as a beacon of peace.
