The validation workshop convened RAB OMIS Contract managers, HoReCo officials, and farmersโ representatives, demonstrating a unified commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable agricultural development. The participants highlighted the critical role of evidence-based reporting and collaborative, partnership-driven approaches in enhancing Rwandaโs agricultural productivity and sector resilience.
Today, representatives of farmers (Water Users & Cooperatives) and @RwandaAgriBoard validated and approved HoReCoโs Q1 report for 2026 (Lot 4), under the OMIS Project.
The review highlighted HoReCoโs achievements in promoting agricultural productivity and supporting communities across @KicukiroDistr, @Gasabo_District, @RwamaganaDistr, @RulindoDistrict, @GakenkeDistrict, @MusanzeDistrict & @BureraDistrict.
This collaborative validation underscores the commitment to transparent reporting, farmer engagement, and sustainable agricultural development.
Today, Dr. @umflora, the Acting Director General of @RwandaAgriBoard, conducted an official visit to the RAB/Kinigi site. Following a guided tour of the farm, she highly commended the strong performance demonstrated at the HoReCo farm and its significant contribution to the multiplication of quality potato seed.
She encouraged HoReCo to sustain and further strengthen this professional approach, emphasizing its critical role in advancing RABโs mandate to produce and disseminate certified, high-quality potato seed, thereby enhancing productivity and resilience across the potato value chain.
The farm currently hosts the following potato varieties: Kinigi, Cyerekezo, Gikungu, Kirundo, Ndamira, and Cruza, in support of RABโs mandate to deliver certified seed and strengthen the potato value chain.
A joint field visit with the @RwandAgriExport team was conducted to assess the performance and agronomic progress of onion demonstration plots established by HoReCo under the Kwihaza Project in Gatsibo District.
The initiative is strengthening the technical capacity of over 400 farmersโparticularly women and youthโby enhancing their skills in the production and management of high-value horticultural crops across the district.
#KwihazaProject is progressing very well, with impressive onion crops in Kamonyi District approaching harvest maturity.
Sincere appreciation goes to @RwandAgriExport for the confidence placed in @HoReCo_Rw to collaborate with #farmers in providing sound agronomic support and ensuring the successful implementation of this project.
The Nyirabirande Marshland (Lot 4), irrigation Scheme covering a total area of 353 hectares and located in the @RwandaNorth , @BureraDistrict , Nemba Sector, is demonstrating strong crop establishment and favorable crop vigor, indicating a promising maize yield for the 2026A agricultural season.
This positive performance is largely attributed to effective agronomic management and close collaboration between #farmers and #HoReCo agronomists, which has ensured timely field operations, proper crop husbandry, and strict adherence to recommended production practices.
Agriculture goes beyond planting seedsโit requires planning, knowledge, and innovation to build sustainable agribusinesses.
At #HoReCo, our agronomists support farmers throughout the entire value chain, from farm planning, irrigation management, and production, to post-harvest handling, value addition, and market access, turning farming into a profitable and sustainable livelihood.
