i was waiting in line to buy a hotdog when i found out john mccain died. it's hard waking up every day knowing that the best hotdog of my life is behind me but i get by
good start! now the city needs to implement my other big policy proposal: every bus should be equipped with an old timey steam engine style cow catcher to easily flip double-parked cars out of the way
“Our message to Albany has been clear for months: Let us clean!" - Sanitation Commissioner Gregory Anderson.
NYS Assembly has days to pass a bill allowing DSNY to enforce alternate-side parking rules with cameras attached to street sweepers, which means YOUR street will be cleaner.
A street sweeper can pick up 1,500 pounds of trash per shift, but only when they have full access to the curb lines; 500,000 car owners disregard street cleaning regulations every week.
"If you decide that your convenience is more important than clean neighborhoods, then yes, you will receive a summons. And if Albany lets us send that message loudly and clearly to all neighborhoods, people will finally start to move their cars. We don’t want to issue summonses — we just want to clean the streets.”

@xoxoBarbzzxoxo@NYCSanitation they should pass it and lower the number of days at the same time. if people actually moved their cars every asp day, we would only need two days to get cleaner streets!

"with heaven on top" could have been zach bryant's "1989" (interesting artistic turn in a new city) but he's just retreading the same softboi country except now it's about soho...
@droningmuffler i bought a copy of mason & dixon back in january and then immediately had to pack it up after the fire. now that we're in a new place i swear I can hear it whispering to me from the box that's waiting to get unpacked
@ITDonohue obviously there's no accounting for taste and i like the breadth of pitchfork's coverage generally, i just go elsewhere for the heavier stuff. also agriculture good, yes
@ITDonohue to their credit, they're never afraid of challenging music but they do sorta have a blindspot re: metal and hardcore. scowl, shallowater, end it, ragana, & mutagenic host all put out great albums this year but only two got news writeups and none were reviewed
