An FCMB staff member sold access to his own bank's infrastructure for $25,000.
Not a hack. Not malware. A guy with a company laptop and legitimate admin credentials.
His name is Gideon Bakpa Aghogho. He worked at First City Monument Bank. Between April and May 2025, he sold FCMB's internal server IP and domain credentials to an accomplice for $15,000. Then in July 2026, he handed over his own local admin access code…the one tied to FCMB's Virtual Center Platform for another $10,000.
Split into two transactions. Two separate deals. Same insider.
The two of them then allegedly tried to use his company-issued HP laptop to actually get into FCMB's database, working with a third person the EFCC only identifies as "Scott."
EFCC caught it. Eight-count charge…conspiracy, unauthorized system access, illegal disclosure of banking infrastructure details. One defendant pleaded not guilty. The other pleaded guilty on arraignment. Court reconvenes tomorrow, August 27, for review.
Here's the part that should bother you if you build financial infrastructure:
This wasn't a firewall problem. It wasn't an encryption problem. The credentials were legitimate. The laptop was legitimate. The access was legitimate until the person holding it decided to sell it.
Your infrastructure security is only as strong as what happens when someone with valid access decides your $25,000 offer beats their job.
What actually stops this:
• Credential access should be logged, scoped, and time-boxed not a standing admin key someone can hand off whenever
• Server IPs and domain credentials should never be something one person can fully disclose alone. Split knowledge. No single point of full access.
• Unusual credential usage (new device, new location, odd hours) should trigger alerts before damage, not after arraignment
• Offboarding and access reviews aren't paperwork. They're the difference between catching this in a log and catching it in an EFCC press release
You can build the most secure system in Nigeria. It still runs on people. Design for that.
Save this.
Let’s Be Honest About This “ I left islam because Islam Teaches Muslims to Kill” Claim
I’ve heard people say, “I left Islam because Islam teaches Muslims to kill innocent people.”
So I ask a simple question:
When you were a Muslim, how many innocent people did Islam command YOU to kill?
How many did you personally kill?
How many did your parents kill because Islam told them to?
How many people in your family or generation were killing innocent non-Muslims because they were Muslims?
If your answer is none, then why are you describing something you never experienced as a command of your religion?
I have lived my life around non-Muslims, and many of my neighbours are non-Muslims. We eat together, do business together, visit each other and live peacefully without problems simply because we practise different religions.
So if one of my non-Muslim neighbours suddenly comes online tomorrow and says, “Islam teaches Muslims to kill,” I will ask them:
“You have lived beside Muslims all this time. Which Muslim did you see killing you or anyone else because Islam told them to?”
Because I find it strange when some people come online and suddenly talk as if every Muslim is their enemy.
Some of you have Muslim neighbours you have lived peacefully with for years. You buy from Muslims, sell to Muslims, eat with Muslims, work with Muslims and even maintain friendships with Muslims. Yet the moment you see someone online accusing Muslims of violence, you quickly say, “Yes, Islam teaches them to kill!”
But be sincere with yourself.
How many Muslims have you personally seen killing innocent people because Islam commanded them to do so?
Stop turning strangers on the internet into enemies when the Muslim living next door has never harmed you.
You can disagree with me or my religion but stop spreading lies against innocent Muslims.
A man finished building his house and, instead of hiring security guards, he intentionally installed free Wi-Fi.
Every evening, the whole neighbourhood gathers outside his compound to enjoy the Wi-Fi. They think the man is being generous, but he has cleverly turned them into his free security guards.
Oga no hire watchman, he hire Wi-Fi. 😂
