@DrCamRx The spread of para-social relationships is a consequence of social media. Even twitch"streamers" have started filling voids people have that lack friends to play and connect with.
A one sided relationship isn't a relationship at all.
On @Channel4News talking about the UK Online Safety Bill’s mass surveillance provision. Pols wanting to regulate tech are instead promoting tech snake oil—doesn’t matter if it’s a backdoor, frontdoor or door that uses hashing: there’s no safe+private way to scan all our messages.
@lexfridman@RobertKennedyJr Why can't he trust expert consensus on vaccines compared to other fields of science? e.g. why can we trust expert consensus in computer science, civil engineering, aviation but not preventive medicine?
@DrCamRx Single ingredient sounds like overkill. Less processed foods yes; but things like garlic, onions, ginger, curries, chilies etc... can all dramatically enhance flavor without increasing calories.
China has one of the lowest obesity rates and eats well. Real chinese food though.
The NSA maintained a $250m/year “SIGINT Enabling Project” that inserted vulnerabilities into US cryptographic technology, and we only learned about it because an IT contractor downloaded all their PowerPoint decks.
@nhannahjones Combating racism should be bi-partisan. One of our greatest military victories was defeating the confederacy, which was courageously led by Grant and Lincoln. Eisenhower was aggressive in pursuing desegregation, both in schools and the military itself.
All of them Republicans.
@nhannahjones I don't think people appreciate how diverse the military is. They recruit and develop people from all walks of life, many of which are shunned by traditional gate-kept institutions. The GI Bill is a highly successful government program for providing college and social mobility.
The US military was one of the first institutions to integrate in the U.S. It desegregated base schools even in the recalcitrant South and refused to let white soldiers rent from landlords that violated the FHA. What you call "woke" is realizing racism is a nation defense issue.
@DrCamMaximus Max Holloway
Extremely friendly Hawaiian(great example of aloha spirit), UFC champion, encourages people to be strong but not do dumb shit like street fight.

@beckydestroyer What makes you say the Marine Corps is racist? The military, like many large organizations, can have issues with racism but I don't see how it would be worse than the Navy or Army etc...
The units I served in were mostly non-white and it was a genuine brotherhood of all colors.
@beckydestroyer The Marine Corps is pretty apolitical and the most anti-woke organization I have ever seen. I don't see what they would have in common with democrats. Some marines being democrats doesn't mean most of them are.
Many libertarians, conservatives etc... as well in the Corps.
@DrCamMaximus Indeed, its a good point that its a different thing when its integrated into a culture versus it being a way to get attention or be "rebellious".
@DrCamMaximus Epictetus likely agrees:
"It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows."
- Epictetus
Unlearning previous assumptions and premises should open us up to new possibilities we'd otherwise reject.
@DrCamMaximus He had his own mental health struggles and was able to overcome them through alot of work. Respect to Tyson Fury for living by his principals.
